Who we are.

Lotema is an international commodity broker and marketing consultant. We trade a diverse range of agricultural commodities including cereals, oilseeds, feed grains, pulses, live cattle, milling oats and popcorn.

Established in 2009 by Todd Lees, the company’s primary focus in the early days was trading bulk shipments of wheat and barley to flour and animal feed millers in the middle east. As the business has matured, we have expanded the commodities and regions we trade and are now considered a trusted and reliable broker for cereals, pulses and oilseeds in bulk and container shipments.

As a service provider, one of our greatest strengths is the relationships forged with an extensive network of suppliers and buyers. The confidence that comes from dealing with reliable, trusted counter parties can never be understated.

The consultancy services we provide are as diverse as the commodities we trade, from providing general market information including crop production estimates and pricing to a more structured and comprehensive training and workshop program. These programs are designed to identify an organisations trading strengths and opportunities and identifying the resources required to harness those opportunities.

We firmly believe that a transaction can only truly be considered successful if both the buyer and seller are satisfied at the conclusion of the business. By conducting business with mutual respect and integrity this can always be achieved.

Todd Lees

Managing Director

Todd has had a diverse and colourful career to date and been fortunate to have worked with several well known and respected Australian companies.  After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Queensland he commenced his trading career with Gardner Smith, Australia’s leading tallow and vegetable oil trader.

In the mid 90's he joined Burdekin CANEGROWERS Executive representing grower interests negotiating with the Queensland Government for lower water prices and with CSR for higher cane prices and improved delivery conditions.  

Todd joined AWB Limited in 1999 based in the Toowoomba office procuring grain from growers. In 2001 he moved to Melbourne joining the International Sales and Marketing Team managing key accounts in the Middle East/Africa/Europe region. One of the many highlights while at AWB was relocating to Cairo for a year to manage AWB’s trading interest.  

Lotema was established in 2009 to provide international brokerage and consultancy services to millers and trading companies.
